Santa Monica Outdoor Fitness Classes Regulation Hits Stalemate, But Ultimately Approved

Insanity Workout Review However, the City Council provided some pre-Halloween fireworks in taking two stabs Tuesday evening to approve in second reading an ordinance regulating commercial fitness training activity at Palisades Park and other open spaces across Santa Monica. In a very rare set of circumstances, council members reached a stalemate when voting on the second reading of the commercial fitness training regulation. An even rarer circumstance: council members would give the second reading a second chance. With Mayor Pro Tem Terry ODay not present at the councils Oct. 22 meeting, the second reading vote was deadlocked at 3 to 3, with Council members Kevin McKeown, Tony Vazquez, and Bob Holbrook voting against the ordinance; council members Pam OConnor, Ted Winterer, and Gleam Davis for the ordinance.

Second edition of Girls Fitness Championships starts on Sunday

The winner of the competition stands to win a designer watch along with a cash prize of Dh100,000 while the second and third place finishers will receive Dh50,000 and Dh40,000 respectively. Those coming in 12th to 15th will each receive Dh4,000. Each participant will have to pay an entry fee of Dh80 every time she enters the contest, while students will get an entry fee rebate and will be allowed to enter for Dh20 each time. The competition will take place behind closed doors at various venues in Dubai including Zabeel Ladies Club in Zabeel, Dubai Ladies Club in Jumeirah and the Higher College of Technology in Al Ghusais. The idea behind this unique competition is to get women and girls involved in physical fitness that will ultimately aim towards a healthy society, as per the vision of Shaikh Majid.
